5/4/2010 - VFW Community Service
| |
 |
 |
Memorial Day Community Service Project
The New York Capital Chapter of the AGA is looking for volunteers to reach out to their local VFWs and assist in replacing flags on our fallen Veterans’ graves in honor of Memorial Day. Each year the VFW Posts (Veterans of Foreign Wars) replace the flags in local cemeteries in honor of those who have passed that have served our Country. We would like to assist in this worthwhile cause to as many VFW Posts as we can. Each Post will most likely have different dates/times per cemetery that their members do this for. Please contact Nicole Van Hoesen at nvanhoes@nysif.com or 914-466-0850 if you are interested in helping your local VFW with this annual cause.

1/10/2010 - Important Reminder for CGFMs
| |
 |
 |
Important Reminder for CGFMs Certified in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 or 2007
With the end of 2009 just behind us--have you earned your 80 CPE hours?
If your CGFM certification was awarded in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 or 2007, you need to have at least 80 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours earned within the two-year period of Jan. 1, 2008 - Dec. 31, 2009. If short of the requirement, you can take advantage of the grace period of Jan. 1 - March 31, 2010 to catch up on your CPEs. These hours cannot be counted toward your next cycle of 2010-2011.

1/1/2010 - The Captains Program
| |
 |
 |
The New York Capital Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants is embarking on a new program to help promote the chapter's events to members and nonmembers. This effort will complement our already extensive email, newsletter and website communications in hopes of reaching more people and increasing participation. We believe this program will improve the chapter's delivery of services to members and the government financial community fulfilling our goal of enhancing public financial management. Please consider being integral to the success of this program and become a Captain!
The program is simple. Volunteer members from government agencies and private firms represented in the chapter will be asked to be our marketuing liaisons in their organizations whenever we announce an upcoming event. This can be done by emailing members and nonmembers in their organization who might be interested in attending the event. They could post flyers throughout the organization and possibily on their website. We believe this will maximize awareness of what the chapter has to offer and increase membership.
If you are interested in becoming a Captain, please contact Sigrid Coons, Vice President for Membership at scoons@mail.nysed.gov or (518)473-7674.
We plan to list the Captains on our website to help with this communication and marketing strategy. We will also honor those who prefer not to have their name included on such a list. Last Updated by: LBrown on 1/12/2010 6:48:42 AM |
