4/5/2024 - New York State Comptroller Designates March as CGFM Month
Since 1950, AGA has been dedicated to serving those who are tasked with using government financial resources in the most effective manner possible and has been the vanguard organization addressing the issues and challenges facing government financial professionals.

AGA's CGFM program was specifically designed to emphasize the unique qualifications and stature of government financial managers. It recognizes the skills and advanced knowledge required of those in the field. CGFM candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, pass three rigorous examinations, and meet an experience requirement of professional-level work in government financial management, CGFMs agree to abide by AGA's strict Code of Ethics and complete at least 80 hours of continuing professional education in government financial management topics, or related technical subjects, every two years.

For the past twenty years, states and local governments have joined the AGA in celebrating March as CGFM month. This year, State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli issued a proclamation declaring March as CGFM Month in New York State!
