COME FOR BREAKFAST, PREVIEW AGA EVENTS FOR 2009-10 AND HEAR MIKE CONNERS ANSWER THE QUESTION “HOW DID I GET TO BE ME?”
You are cordially invited to our annual Kick-Off Breakfast. Shelly Taleporos, Chapter President-Elect, will introduce the following Chapter officers who will provide details about the Chapter’s line-up of programs and other initiatives for 2009-10:
• Educational Training Events: Mike Abbott
• Community Services Events: Sigrid Coons
• Membership/Early Careers Events: Ashley Weil
• CGFM Certification: Thalia Melendez
Mike Conners was elected Albany County Comptroller in 1995 and continues to serve in that capacity. Some of his major accomplishments include spearheading reforms at the Capital Region OTB, saving over $34 million in debt service at the Albany County Airport, instituting GASB-compliant accounting practices, and instituting hotel/motel audits which have generated new revenue for Albany County.
Mike’s public career also includes service as a County Legislator, Albany’s Public Works Commissioner, Treasurer of the Albany Municipal Finance Water Authority, and others. Mike also has an extensive and successful private sector career, including CEO of MF Conners & Son Agency. Mike has been active in numerous charitable and not-for- profit corporations, including the Cerebral Palsy Center for the Disabled and the Capital Region New York State Mentoring Program. Mike was raised in Albany and graduated from the Christian Brothers Academy and Siena College.
